Citizen Academy Program

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

So I am in the CAP.  You may be wondering what that is.  The Citizen Academy Program is the Jefferson County Sheriff program for citizens.  No, I will not be arresting anyone or on a high speed chase (which would be cool).  But I do get to learn about what the Sheriff department does and all the programs they will.  A couple of cools things I will get is a Sheriff’s polo shirt, a patrol along (until something dangerous happens), and to shoot at their firing range.  I even had to buy my first pistol permit.  I was excited.

I will keep you updated on the next adventure we have.  Should be some interesting stories…

WOW!!! It has been since July 17th since I have written my last post. A lot has happen between now and then. For those that read my blog (all 4) of you, here is what is happening now….

I am getting married this Saturday, Dec. 6 to Ashley. We are both very excited and can’t wait for the wedding. We are looking forward to seeing our friends and family, and then off to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. I will try to put some pics up when we get back, but knowing my track record it will be next April before I blog again.

During my honeymoon I will be celebrating my 32nd birthday on Dec. 10th. You can’t really ask for a better birthday gift then to be in the Bahamas on the beach with a drink in the hand with my lovely wife.

If I don’t write again before the new year, I want to thank everyone who has helped us in the wedding and who gave warm wishes for us. Also, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

The ink has runneth dryeth…

So it has been brought to my attention that I haven’t blogged on here in a while.  I looked at my blog and it has been since May.  So here is a recap of what’s been going on.

-  Still getting married in Dec.  Plans are coming along nicely.  We got a church, reception hall, band.  What else do you need?  Man these days are flying by quickly as we get closer to the wedding.  Hard to believe it has been over 6 months since we have gotten engaged.  If I am not mistaken we have around 144 days left before the big day.  That’s little over 5 months…not long at all. But we are excited and can’t wait.

-  Softball season doesn’t start again until March 09.  So I will have to wait.

-  I hurt my back and knee in the same month about a week apart from each other.  I guess that’s the price of getting old… But I am ok and making it.  Still need to train for my bike ride in Sept.

-  Booked my honeymoon.  Can’t wait!!!

-  Well that’s about it for now…haha  Nothing too exciting in my life.

Now for my top five list.  My friend Amy who just had a birthday yesterday…Happy Birthday again… started a top 5 list.  I will continue that tradition in honor of her birthday… For those that read my blog…enjoy.

Things I Wanted To Be When I Grow Up

2) An Actor
3) The President of the United States
4) A Millionaire

It only took 30 years, and 363 days…

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Almost 31 years has passed. And at this point in my life I can’t complain one bit. Today, December 10th, I turned 31. Not a very monumental birthday as birthdays go, but it’s one I will cherish. Two days ago I asked the love of my life, Ashley, to marry me.

It was perfect. We went to see Peter Pan at the Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery, AL. Well before the show I took her to the festival to see the grounds. At one of the wooden bridges there is a stone hut which has a balcony looking out over the pond. Perfect setting for a proposal.

So to do this right I had to prepare for months. Start training weeks in advance. Well maybe I didn’t do that much. With the help of my friend Jim, we set this up. He went down a couple of hours earlier to set everything up. We had candles, music playing, flowers and champagne waiting for us.

Earlier I bought two champagne flutes that were engraved “Ashley & Scott”, “December 8, 2007″ .Scott & Ashley

We got to the festival right when the sun was going down so the atmosphere was very romantic. She still had no clue when we went into the hut. She thought we were bothering someone else’s’ space until I told her I wanted to do something romantic for her.

Then I asked if she wanted some champagne. She said yes and I told her to stand by the balcony while I pored. I walked over to her as her favorite song was playing “Moon River”. I asked her to read the engraving on the flutes. As she read out loud the date, I dropped to one knee and confessed my love and asked her to Marry me.

ProposingSHE SAID YES!!! of course (or I wouldn’t be telling this story…haha)

She was very happy and very surprised. I had her believing Flag Day of next year.

I am glad that it went well. More details to follow. So after being in 26 weddings with 2 more next year, I finally get to be the GROOM!!!

Benedict Arnold on my own writing… I think Not

Well, I broke down. I did. I couldn’t hold it in any longer. I could not just stand by and let this injustice to happen. It was my right as an American and a gadget freak to take action. That’s right, I bought an iPhone!!!

apple-iphone-in-hand.jpgYou might say that I wrote an article (http://erb.mancavemojo.com/?p=36 ) almost 6 months ago about how it wasn’t worth the money and time. Well, I was wrong. I love my new iPhone. Here is how it all went down.

blackberry-curve-8300.jpgI bought a new Blackberry Curve 8310 (which is very cool by the way). Well I was weary about buying the iPhone because of the bad network service. I had 30 days to try my blackberry, but I still needed something to listen to music. So for two weeks I had both objects on me. I borrowed a friend’s iPod and I felt like I needed a utility belt for everything.

After the two weeks I realized that the service wasn’t half bad. Then I figured, wait if it works with this blackberry it has to work with the iPhone. So I broke down and swapped the curve for the iPhone.

It is awesome!!! Service has been great in Birmingham. I love the cool gadgets and features. And now I only have one item to carry. So it actually saves me energy..haha

I have over 1300 songs downloaded. I love that the iPhone has external speakers so I don’t have to have my earpieces.

So for all you gadget loving folks, especially you Mac lovers… give it a try. You will love it.

I know it’s been a while since my last blog but hopefully I will have a lot more to say soon!!!

My Son’s name is…

Friday, July 27th, 2007

we-wyattearp.jpgFirst of all I am nowhere close to having a son that I know of.  So don’t start jumping to conclusions.  But more of my friends are having babies, so I started to think what I would name my kid.  I really don’t know and I guess it will all depend on the girl that I have my child with.  But I was thinking and it came to me.  My son will be called….

WYATT Erb

How cool would that be?  I mean instead of Wyatt Earp, Wyatt Erb.  Would anyone get it?  Would people think it was cool, funny, stupid, or just don’t care?

Oh well I guess one way to find out…

That is all I have for now.

That Dare to be great moment

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Have you had that “Dare to be GREAT Moment?” What is that moment? Has life just been passing you by? It seems like you are floating along as a third person watching your life via TV? I mean, your life, relationships, jobs, everything is on auto pilot.

You remember the old cartoons with the two buzzards. Which way did he go George, which way did he go? I feel like that buzzard sometime. Just feels like my brain is idling, just ready to go.

I need that Dare to be great moment! I need that one chance to define me. Where is that moment? What will it be? I am destined for greatness, I can feel it.
