So what a week it has been. A week of a happy celebration to a week of sorrow and grief. Throw a little anger, tiredness, and a few drops of laughter and you have one great stew.
So here is what went down.
Saturday I was on my way to a wedding. I live in Birmingham, the wedding was in Prattville. Prattville is about hour & fifteen minutes away. I was in my suit (looking good I must say) and ready to go. Meeting a friend in Pelham to caravan to Prattville.
I must also say how hot it has been all last week and this week. Hottest two weeks of the year.
So as soon as I left my driveway my A/C on my car went out. Just stopped. No slowing down, no coughing, just stopped. Wasn’t pretty at all. What could I do? So I did the AC 270-280. That’s two windows down going 70-80 miles per hour. Even going 80 mph, 100 degree wind is still not cool.
And to top it all off the wedding was outside. Outside in August. Enough said on that.
Monday - I got my car fixed. Finally had a little A/C after a weekend of hell. Literally. I think I know what hell feels like. What makes it worse that if I wanted to use my cell phone I had to roll up my windows. I decided not to make too many calls that weekend.
So the week is going. Tuesday & Wednesday are going great. No problems. So I think.
Thursday morning my girlfriend tells me her grandmother passed away. So I felt bad for her. Trying to do my best to console her. I doubt I am doing a good job.
Then I am off to work. Well I get in my car and it wouldn’t crank. I was thinking great, grand, wonderful. Well I will have to get a neighbor to jump me off. First let me say that I have a car garage. So no way that my jumper cables would reach. This is only a problem because my car wouldn’t come out of park. I couldn’t put it in neutral to save my life. So I am frustrated and late for work. Good times, good times.
So I had to get someone to take me to get a car charger jump kit. (probably a fancier name, but that is what I call it). Well it took over 3-4 hours for it to finally get charged itself so I could jump off my car. Finally got it into neutral, backed it out of my garage and jump started the car.
Drove to get a new battery because mine was dead.
So over the course of a week I have spent way way too much money on my car.
Well today is Friday, thank the Good Lord. Of course I am off traveling the states this weekend. So its good that I have a new battery and Air that works. Well cross your fingers and hold your breath for me. I will need it.
I sure hope next week goes better.
But say a prayer for my girl’s family and their loss. I only have one grandma left and definitely under the grief. But she lived a good life. 95 years old.
Everyone have a great weekend, Erb out.
The Long and Windy Road
Writer, lead vocal: Paul McCartney
The long and winding road that leads to your door,
Will never disappear,
I’ve seen that road before It always leads me here,
Leads me to your door.
The wild and windy night the rain washed away,
Has left a pool of tears crying for the day.
Why leave me standing here, let me know the way
Many times I’ve been alone and many times I’ve cried
Anyway you’ll never know the many ways I’ve tried, but
Still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don’t leave me waiting here, lead me to you door
Da, da, da, da
